About

Dr. Chad Prather specializes in skin cancer treatment, Mohs surgery, and aesthetic dermatology. 

Upon receiving his medical degree from the LSU School of Medicine and completing his internship and residency in the LSU Department of Dermatology, Dr. Prather pursued advanced fellowship training in Mohs Surgery and Cosmetic Dermatology in Birmingham, Alabama.

Since opening his first practice, Dermasurgery Center, in his hometown of Baton Rouge, Dr. Prather has performed tens of thousands of procedures, including over 30,000 Mohs surgeries in Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Metairie, and Ponchatoula. He is currently seeing patients at Sanova Dermatology in Baton Rouge.

He is the author of numerous scientific papers and textbook chapters on topics including skin cancer, facial fillers, chemical peels, and more.

In addition to his work as a physician, Dr. Prather enjoys taking an active role in his community. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Louisiana Medical Mutual Insurance Company (LAMMICO). Dr. Prather also serves as a Clinical Assistant Director for the LSU Department of Dermatology and is currently pursuing his MBA with Louisiana State University Shreveport.

Dr. Prather has previously served on the Board of Directors for the Baton Rouge Gallery. Most recently, Dr. Prather, inspired by his daughters’ hobby and their desire to help the equestrian community, helped them found Sun Safe Equestrian, a nonprofit organization with the mission of prevention and early detection of skin cancer in the equestrian community. As part of this mission, Dr. Prather offers free cancer screenings at equestrian events.
